Toolbox for Thriving Chiropractors

Books

Rich Dad Poor Dad – The one book that I can point to that literally changed my life. Author Robert Kiyosaki developed his unique economic perspective through exposure to a pair of disparate influences: his own highly educated but fiscally unstable father, and the multimillionaire eighth-grade dropout father of his closest friend. The lifelong monetary problems experienced by his “poor dad” (whose weekly paychecks, while respectable, were never quite sufficient to meet family needs) pounded home the counterpoint communicated by his “rich dad” (that “the poor and the middle class work for money,” but “the rich have money work for them”). Taking that message to heart, Kiyosaki was able to retire at 47. Must Read!

Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial – Anthony Robbins, the nation’s leader in the science of peak performance, shows you his most effective strategies and techniques for mastering your emotions, your body, your relationships, your finances, and your life. The acknowledged expert in the psychology of change, Anthony Robbins provides a step-by-step program teaching the fundamental lessons of self-mastery that will enable you to discover your true purpose, take control of your life and harness the forces that shape your destiny.

The E-Myth Revisited – Even though not written specifically for chiropractors, it is totally and easily applicable. Gerber walks you through the steps in the life of a business—from entrepreneurial infancy through adolescent growing pains to the mature entrepreneurial perspective: the guiding light of all businesses that succeed. Most importantly, Gerber draws the vital, often overlooked distinction between working on your business and working in your business. A must read!

How To Win Friends and Influence People – This grandfather of all people-skills books is a must read for anybody, but especially chiropractors wanting to maximize their potential. Financial success, Carnegie believed, is due 15 percent to professional knowledge and 85 percent to “the ability to express ideas, to assume leadership, and to arouse enthusiasm among people.” He teaches these skills through underlying principles of dealing with people so that they feel important and appreciated. He also emphasizes fundamental techniques for handling people without making them feel manipulated. Learn this information instead of the scare-tactics and manipulative scripts the consultants would have you memorize.

Book Yourself Solid Illustrated: The Fastest, Easiest, and Most Reliable System for Getting More Clients Than You Can Handle Even if You Hate Marketing and Selling – This is the one book I give as a graduation gift to all new graduates from chiropractic college and is required reading of my associates.  Absorbing this book enables you to adopt the right promotional perspective and provides the strategies, techniques, and skills necessary to get more clients and increase profits. Through verbal and written exercises, you’ll discover the keys to developing a strong marketing plan and brand image. Essential!

The Referral Engine: Teaching Your Business to Market Itself – Referrals are truly THE best way to build your practice. The secret to generating referrals lies in understanding the “Customer Referral Cycle”-the way customers refer others to your company who, in turn, generate even more referrals. Businesses can ensure a healthy referral cycle by moving customers and prospects along the path of Know, Like, Trust, Try, Buy, Repeat, and Refer. By following this system, my practice generates referrals in a reliable and predictable fashion. Also, listen to Episode 3 of the Thriving Chiropractor Podcast, for more on this topic.
